Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough, New Zealand

£10.18 – £11 per bottle

A truly savvy selection, this classic from New Zealand’s all-conquering Marlborough region is as breathtakingly beautiful as the landscape that surrounds it. Aromatic and awash with passion fruit and grapefruit, a chilled glass of this Sauvignon will complement light and citrusy flavours, creamy sauces and fresh seafood. It’s great in the garden over lunch, or on a roof with a view.

More about this wine

“Everyone who loves a Sauvignon loves a Marlborough Sauvignon. Especially when it’s done right. And when I mean ‘done right’, I mean balanced… and this New Zealand Sauvignon is just that.

Marlborough Sauvignon’s have punctuated many memories for me and it’s often my ‘go to’ wine for laughs with friends. It’s my chatty social event wine; the instant revitaliser.

Enhanced gooseberry aromatics support an engaging nose of ripe citrus, freshly cut grass, and herbs. In the mouth, ripe gooseberry and herbal flavours complement classic red pepper and stony mineral tones. Supple and satisfying, this Sauvignon is balanced by its acidic backbone.

This wine is the perfect companion to lively conversations, laughing with your besties and enjoying the company of friends. A sophisticated wine perfect for relaxing, that’ll go down a treat anywhere.”

The Low Down:

  1. Sauvignon Blanc is the grape that makes the famous white wines of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, which are wine villages in France's Loire Valley.
  2. Believe it or not, Sauvignon Blanc is the mother of Cabernet Sauvignon. It's dad was Cabernet Franc.
  3. Sauvignon Blanc, when blended with Sémillon, makes the famous sweet wines of Sauternes.
Pronounced: French: [so-vin-yon blonc) Where you'll find it: You'll find the Sauvignon Blanc grape in our Ohsomm Sauvignon Blanc (of course!) which is is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes.   Sauvignon Blanc is a grape variety originally from Bordeaux in France but now making a name for itself all over the world in fancy wine bars and household fridges alike. It’s a crisp, refreshing, versatile white, best-enjoyed young (the wine, that is, not the drinker). Our Sauvignon Blanc is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Read more here

Made with love in Marlborough, New Zealand

Our Sauvignon Blanc winemakers are a talented bunch and like us, have a riveting story to tell. So, as all good stories begin: Once-upon-a-time... There were some Port shippers who wanted to discover wine making on the other side of the world. Crossing oceans and continents they eventually arrived in New Zealand - “Land of The Long White Cloud” - and charmed a local winery, Framingham in Marlborough, into releasing their secrets. In order to obtain such a guarded formula, the Port shippers took it upon themselves to impressive the Kiwi locals and stood up, put their hand on their chests, and belted out the Portuguese national anthem. After long deliberation (and some head scratching), the local winemakers spilled the beans. To this day, a new generation of New Zealand and Portuguese wine aficionados communicate across time zones, debating this special wine. Produced in the heart of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley and using 15-year-old vines, deliberately planted on an unusual east-west direction, this region is renowned for its dry climate and rich, fertile soil. The result is the production of more herbaceous fruits and a Sauvignon Blanc with distinctive ripe, citrus notes and subtle mineral complexities.
