Wine introduced by

Tart London

Produced by the traditional port method this premium LBV from the Douro is deep.

Deep in its ruby colour. Deep in its aromas of plum and black cherry. Deep in a way that creates a smooth drinking wine perfectly balancing a hint of chocolate and a dash of peppery spice.

This is Ohsomm Port...

More about this wine

It’s perhaps a surprisingly little-known fact that for a fortified wine to be known as a Port it has to be produced in Porto, Portugal.

Bar trivia facts aside, port is a delicious dessert wine favoured the world over by people sat in grandfather chairs with a roaring log fire thrown in for good measure… but that’s not all there is to this very special wine. Port is equally at home as the perfect party-starter thanks to its high sugar and alcohol content.

Whether it’s January or July, Port wine should have a place on your table. For summer evenings, dig out that picnic blanket and meet your other half in the park with a chilled bottle, salted almonds, jamon and blue cheese. Come winter, run a hot bath, light a candle and sink into this Late Bottled Vintage.

Alternatively, get home on any day of the week that ends in Y, kick off your shoes and hunker down for the evening with a luxurious glass and a large bar of dark chocolate.

Touriga Franca

The Low Down:

  1. Though not the most famous, Touriga Franca is the grape most widely grown in Portugal's Duoro and is found in many dry red and Port wine blends.
  2. Touriga Franca used to be known as Touriga Francesa but the name was changed in 2000, apparently to make it clearer that the grape had no connection with France. We're not entirely sure the new name does that...
  3. Touriga Franca is like a more delicate, more perfumed version of Touriga Nacional. They make a good partnership: Franca from the aromatics and softness and Nacional for colour and backbone.
Pronounced: Portugal: [Tor-ree-ga fran-ka) Where you'll find it: In our Portuguese wine which include Ohsomm Late Bottled Vintage Port, Ohsomm 20 Year Old Tawny Port and Ohsomm Douro. Read more here

Made with love in the Douro Valley, Portugal.

Standing thigh deep in purple grape juice while dancing to the sound of an accordion played by a guy with more wrinkles than an elephant sounds like a strange dream, but it’s a nightly reality at harvest time in the Douro Valley.A seeming world away from the buzzy city of Porto, a deafening silence falls over these remote vineyards each night. The darkness is intense and the big sky is a planetarium-worthy show of dazzling stars. The only noise that breaks this monastery-like silence comes during the harvest when the accordion is dusted off, vineyard workers limber up their vocal chords and dancing feet stomp the grapes. This is one of the oldest Protected Designation of Origin regions in Portugal’s wine growing history. Over 250 years old, it is located in north-eastern Portugal along the Douro River valley. This region is bordered by mountain ranges in the north, west, and south and by the border with Spain in the east.
