Merlot

Aude, France

£8.79 – £9.50 per bottle

Your maestro of Merlot is at it again with this magnificent drop. Silky and balanced, but full-figured, you’ll notice a hint of fruit preserves and an earthiness that conjures a wooded forest on a misty morning. Food-wise? We reckon you should crack it open with grilled or roasted meats and game, and creamy pastas like carbonara. And whilst it’s perfect for your dinner party, it’s just as good over a take-away dinner for one on the sofa with a movie.

More about this wine

“For too long Merlot has been a misunderstood, mismanaged masterpiece. This has forced winemakers to raise their game when it comes to producing quality Merlots, and this one I’m showcasing is taking a leading role.

Elegant, seductive and silky smooth; this jammy fruit driven Merlot is a real wine, not a pretender. Ruby red with blue hues, it has bright aromas of red fruits. The taste of plums, cherries and raspberries are balanced by spicy notes and toasty aromas.

Familiar, approachable and comfortable… this wine is a warm blanket on a chilly evening… it’s grabbing your favourite jumper while you snuggle up to a loved one. Merlot is for those magical moments what popcorn is to movies.

Speaking of movies… pick a film and have your bottle of Merlot on standby as the perfect companion. And if you’re not a movie buff, it goes equally well with listening to a favourite album or settling into a good book.”

Made with love near the valleys of Carcassonne, France.

Blended using the finest cuvess in Carcassonne, this elegant Merlot is a standout wine from the Languedoc region. You'll be captivated by it's deep-purplish colouring and enticed by the silky but balanced nose, but still, the proof is in the pudding and woah! what a pudding. This is a full-bodied Merlot with real character, combining light, fruity scents with a deeply fruity flavour. At first you'll smell fresh summer fruits and as you drink deeply, you'll taste rich ripe black cherry flavours and a hint of piquant spice. A deliciously smooth, enriching and delectable tipple. As one of the leading varietals from the Bordeaux region, this Merlot is produced in the Languedoc (sometimes labelled as Pays d'Oc) region, the single biggest wine-producing region in the world. The distinctive clay-limestone terroir here makes for fruity preserves and a light, but spicy finish. And, given its close proximity to the Mediterranean coastline, where vineyards span from the French border with Spain to the region of Provence, grapes thrive in the warm climate, revealing powerful aromas and rounded tannins .
